Questions and Answers
Carburetor remanufactured by AutoLine.
All base, body and air horns are stamped prior to disassembly to ensure units are reassembled with the proper “companion” parts. Internal parts such as jets and metering rods are identified, to insure they remain with the original castings, where variations may have occurred at the manufacturing level. This process ensures that original flow characteristics are maintained.
After disassembly all parts are inspected and cleaned in industrial equipment. Internal parts such as gaskets, needle and seats and plunger cups are discarded. All white metal castings are chemically processed to restore the factory finish. All aluminium castings are sandblasted or tumbler processed to restore the finish. Bases are surfaced to ensure proper mating with the body assembly and the manifold. Mounting holes are refaced to assure proper torque of mounting fasteners.
During our sub-assembly process all threads, inlets and vacuum pipes are inspected and repaired or replaced if necessary. Throttle and choke plates are inspected and replaced if not serviceable. Throttle bushings are installed wherever throttle shaft play is not within tolerances. Completed base assemblies are checked for vacuum integrity. Any base that does not meet our specifications must be repaired prior to use.
Throughout our assembly process all body and calibration components are reassembled to the original unit to maintain product calibration. All assembly components are tested prior to product assembly.
Completed product is flow tested throughout all ranges of operation to ensure proper calibration. Choke adjustment, idle speed and air-screw settings are made during product testing. This process allows the technician to start the vehicle upon product installation. Final adjustments may be necessary due to varied engine condition.
All AutoLine Carburetors are heat shrink packaged with installation instructions, mounting gaskets and specific technical bulletins.

Shipping was fast, item was packed well. I pulled the old one off and stuck this new on and it fired right up even in sub-zero temps with the truck sitting for 3 days and before any tuning (i have an electric fuel pump). No problems at all and it was almost exactly the same as the factory 2150 I pulled off. Only difference was the choke wire connector was clocked differently making contact with the air cleaner housing.

Q:
What are the jets used in the rebuild? I understand that there is an altitude compensator, but I am in Denver and don't want to run with 55 or 56 jets because I think its too rich to pass emissions.

Jeff

A:
The jets are basically the same size as original. The carburetors are rebuilt to fit all AMC V8's without being jetted for specific locations / altitudes. The only way to do that would be to change the jets after you purchase it.

Q:
The carb currently on my 89 GW has no nipple at the power valve bottom cover, as well no tag. I assume that it is a 2150 model. My questions are : What does the port on the power valve of your carbs connect to??.....and would this affect my carb being suitable as a core ? I am sure that my Jeep would benefit from a new one. Thanks, Gregg

A:
Our carbs are direct replacements for the original Motorcraft 2150 (same as what you should have). So the ports should match what you have. The front upper port is for fuel, and the bottom one is for distributor. You can email me a picture of what you have to

Q:
What gaskets should I buy to go with this carb?
Asked by:
Rob

A:
You'll want to get this insulator plate along with the gaskets above and below it (they are available in the pull down menu on the page below):

Q:
Hi Ryan. two questions, Do you have the rebuilt 2150's in stock? Just to confirm the power valve should be connected to direct manifold vacuum correct? (I have given up on trying to tune the one I purchased last year - two mechanics have told me the choke is non-function and both want to charge me more than a reman unit to rebuild.) Thanks - Vincent.
Asked by:
Vincent
- 10/16/2017
A:
Yes, they are in stock. For the power valve, those are bolted to the underside of the carb and are not connected to a separate vacuum source (there is no port there)

Q:
Are the components there to hook this carb up to stock cruise control?
Asked by:
Patrick Harn
- 1/6/2018
A:
This carburetor should have all the same linkages as factory. But to be safe, we always recommend comparing the two before sending the core back. That way, worst case scenario you could transfer over any linkages as necessary.
