Four-Function Remote Entry Kits

The CMD-4000 Series remote systems are designed to lock / unlock doors or can be used to roll up / down your tailgate window. One of the key features of this kit is the Ignition Safety Lockout, which prevents doors from being accidentally unlocked via the key fob when the key is on.

Most 1981-1991 FSJ’s came with door lock actuators already installed, which means you can connect this kit very easily. If your 1981-1991 needs new actuators, we have them available in the pull down menu. If you have a 1963-1980 model that didn’t come with power door lock actuators, we have universal units also available in the pull down menu (note that universal actuators for the 1963-1980 models will include basic hardware, and will require you to find a suitable mounting location).

Some later models (1988-1991) were available with a keyless entry in the overhead console from the factory. For those vehicles, installation is simplified as all the door lock actuator wires are in the overhead console, and you only need to connect 2 wires there to control the doors.

Q: Hi, can this kit be used to operate both the doors and the rear window with just one kit? (2 buttons to open / close the doors) 2 buttons to open / close the rear window?)

A: Yes, as unlocking both doors would be one function, locking both doors would be the second function, rolling down the tailgate window would be the third function, and rolling up the tailgate window would be the fourth function.

Q: I wanted to confirm that this is NOT an alarm, right? If the remotes fail or something, using the key to manually unlock the door won't cause an issue? Also, what is the battery draw on the receiver when idle? Would there be a risk of draining the battery?

A: Correct, this is NOT an alarm. You can use the keys manually whenever you wish without any issues. There is no risk to draining the battery that we are aware of.

Q: My Jeep has a manual battery cut off switch. When the power is cut off do the actuators open? In other words when I pull the key cutting off the power, are the doors going to unlock?

A: if you manually cut off the power, nothing should work. but that also depends on how you wire this in to your system.

Q: Does this work for door locks and tailgate glass? Or is it one or the other?

A: It works for 4 functions. So 1 function would be one window down, a second function would be one window up. A third function would be unlock, and a fourth function would be lock.

Q: Does it come with instructions on how to install to get the doors and tailgate window working?

A: It will come with generic instructions for installation, but nothing specific to the FSJ / tailgate.
