Questions and Answers
Throw your RTV away! Tired of the mess that silicone sealant leaves behind? Ever had to beat on the differential cover with a hammer to break it free? Lube Locker gets the job done quicker with less hassle and mess. These gaskets are designed with a steel core that is rubber coated and have Lube Locker's signature full perimeter elastomer beading on BOTH sides. The result is a gasket that will not split or extrude during installation and has superior torque retention. There is no set up time because installation is dry with no sealant needed!
Q:
Should this gasket be used alone or in combination with the narrow factory style gasket that sits in the offset portion of the differential case? It seems to me that it would not make full contact and be able to utilize the full gasket surface if the narrow factory style gasket is also not used and the void created by just using this lubelocker gasket would just act as a gully to fill with axle lube and make is easier to leak. I installed one of these this week and tightened the bolts to specs and it now seems to be leaking as bad or even faster than before. The inside lip of my diff cover where this new gasket would make contact had lots of surface rust and I cleaned it up the best I could before reinstalling it with the new lubelocker gasket, The original thin gasket was still intact when I pulled the cover and it appeared to be flush with the diff case, I now wished I had left it in place instead of removing it since it seems it would have given the new gasket something to seal to instead of creating a gully or void for the fluid to flow in. I have already purchased a new stainless steel cover from you after realizing the old one did not seal correctly, but now I am wondering once it arrives if I shouldn't try using both the lubelocker and the factory style together to get a better seal.
