Questions and Answers
Extra thick polyethylene replacement gas tanks. These tanks include new lock rings and o-rings, and fit all 1963-1977 J-series pickups (including J200, J2000, J300, J3000, J4000, J4500, J10, J20, Gladiator, etc). Tank is 18 gallon capacity and has the large fill and vent port on the side of the tank. Tank is also a direct fit for 1976-1977 models with the emission lines (if your 1976-1977 model doesn’t have the emission lines, you can cap those ports on the tank).

Q:
Will this tank mount with just the one original strap or do we need to fabricate some way to mount with two straps? If so, is there any guidance on how to do that? Thanks for the help.
Asked by:
David Maytag
- 11/11/2016
A:
You can reuse your original straps, or we sell straps as well. Also, if your truck came with a single strap, you can use that with this tank, or you can add a second strap if you'd prefer.

Q:
I'm doing a moderate restoration of a 1967 M715, and really would prefer to retrofit a poly fuel tank instead of trying to eliminate rust and leaks in the original unit. I saw the answer to query whether it would fit, but still would consider using the poly tank you offer by fabricating custom mounting hardware. Could you please send me size specs for W x L x H so I can determine if it would at least fit into the space where the original was? Thank you.
Asked by:
Bruce Dunwell
- 11/4/2019
A:
This tank is approximately 24x17x13

Q:
wondering if there is a modern fuel injected fuel pump and sending unit that will properly mount in this tank for a LS series motor? Thanks, Jason
Asked by:
Jason Doven
- 8/25/2016
A:
For the sending unit, you will still use the stock unit (either your existing one, or the new one we carry). For the pump, unless you go with one of our rear-mounted metal tanks with baffles, you will use an externally mounted pump.
