Product Details

Extra thick polyethylene replacement gas tanks. These tanks include new lock rings and o-rings.

Tank is 18 gallon capacity and has fill and vent hoses on the front of the tank, with the sending unit hole on top of the tank.

*NOTE: This tank will also work for 1980-1988 Fleetside J-10 / J-20 pickups (will not work on stepsides), with some changes. To use it on the later model pickups you will also need to buy the 1963-1979 J-truck sending unit (part number 14-6036), which will read correctly for 1980-1985 models (1986-1988 will have to come up with an alternate solution) . You will need to space the tank down from the bed to clear the sending unit, and you’ll have to extend the fuel lines.  If the vent nipple hits the bed support rail, you can notch the rail bracket to clear.

As all poly tanks are, it’s a nice upgrade to the truck. With modern ethanol fuel, water accumulates in the bottom of the tanks if they sit for any amount of time causing them to rust out faster than they did in the past. Now it’s not an issue. Tank doesn’t fit very well as a bolt in tank. With tank straps snugged up tight the tank moves quite a bit...so much so that I think the straps could move and allow the tank to drop out from under the truck. You’ll need to add rubber spacers between the truck and tank to make it fit snug. It’s not a huge deal but something you’ll need to know going into it so you can source some rubber before you try to swap the tanks in a day. 4 pieces of 1/4 - 1/2 inch should suffice.
