Questions and Answers
Remanufactured, NOT rebuilt. And yes there is a difference, a big difference. Unlike many of the products out there, S&J engines are not simply taken apart and rebuilt. They are painstakingly inspected, piece by piece, element by element and each component is given new life. And rather than expect yesterday's equipment to keep up with today's tougher engine tolerances, S&J uses the latest in engine technology, tools, and expertise to transform your engine. S&J continually upgrades its equipment and training to ensure the engines we produce today are equal to or better than the original. When you purchase your engine from S&J Engines you receive the highest quality remanufactured engine available from the most committed engine supplier in existence. When it is possible to do it better, they will.
In order to activate your engine warranty, S&J Engines, Inc. must receive a completed Warranty Form within sixty (60) days of receipt of purchase. Failure to complete the verification process renders your warranty null and void. To view warranty requirements and conditions, click

**Note: sometimes we have engines that are already built / ready to ship that are painted grey. If the color you select is different, we will include a can of paint in the color you select.

**CORE REFUND NOTE:
All cores must be received back within 5 months in order to receive a core refund to your original payment method. After 5 months, core refunds are only available as store credit (no exceptions). Also, all cores must be in good, rebuildable condition. Any cores that have damaged / non-usable parts may incur charges (which will be deducted from the core return value). Engines that are 0.060 or over are not rebuildable, and will not receive a core refund.

Q:
I am looking into purchasing a re-man long block for a marine application. The engine is a buick 225 v-6 that has a crack in the water jacket. The engine does run fine otherwise. What will the core charge be for the engine? The current engine requires lead substitute to be added to the gasoline, will the new engine require lead substitute? Thanks, Matthew Idema
Asked by:
Matt
- 6/14/2017
A:
If the water jacket is cracked, then it most likely isn't a rebuildable core. This means you'll pay the core charge up front and there won't be a refund on that. No, this replacement engine doesn't require a lead substitute.

Q:
can you sell me the same color paint that comes on your engine? I'm looking at the Buick-225-lb in blue.
Asked by:
steve
- 7/13/2017
A:
We don't carry the paint (our engine builder is a separate business). However, you can buy the engine paint online from various sources. It is made by Seymour Paints, and the AMC Blue color is EN-66.

Q:
your description of this rebuilt 225 V6 states it includes a new oil pump. However, the oil pump on this engine is in the front cover. Your picture shows an engine without the front cover on it. Does this rebuild actually include the front cover & oil pump?
Asked by:
Doug
- 4/12/2018
A:
It does indeed include a new oil pump, but you will reuse your original timing gear cover.

Q:
I have a early Buick Dauntless 198 cubic inch "odd fire" V-6 in my Jeep. It was not original so the year/model doesn't matter. Will your short block engine match up? Mounts, flywheel, etc. and will my components fit the225 such as intake manifold, exhaust manifolds, starter, pump etc.?
Asked by:
Pete
- 6/29/2020
A:
While it's possible some (or all, or none) of those parts may change over, we specialize in Full Size Jeeps and aren't able to guarantee fitment between the 198 and the 225 parts swapping over.
