A: Yes, the seals are made differently and the later model seal will not effectively hold the earlier style glass in place properly. You will want to get the correct one for your year. For the tailgate window motors, we don't require a core at the moment, but we are running low and would be interested in receiving your core back (we would cover return shipping). For removing the original, you could try cutting away and slowly trying to slide it out. You can also try to work some lubricant between the glass and the original seal.
