Replacement timing cover kit for AMC V8's. Don't rebuild your engine without this! A worn out timing cover is the #1 cause for oil pump failure. Note that the oil-filter bypass openings are no longer built in to the covers. The reason is that oil filters are all made now with a bypass built in to the filter, thus no longer needing it to be in the cover.

Q: Who makes this timing cover? The proform ones from summit have a bad distributor angle. Trying to avoid the same problem.

A: These are made by Crown and are good units (3-4 years ago they had an alignment issue which they corrected).

Q: Do you guarantee these covers will fit and not have any issues with alignment on the distributor?

A: We provide a 1 year warranty against manufacturing defects. You must reuse your alignment dowels that go between the block and the timing cover to get the proper alignment.

Q: I have a 70 AMC 390 and was wondering if this fits as it is not listed on your application?

A: Yes, it will fit. We just don't list the 390 as we are a Full Size Jeep specific company, and that engine didn't come in any of the FSJ's. But many of our parts will cross over into the AMC cars and are correct for those applications as well.

Q: What is the mid plate made of? Is the mid plate the same as the stainless steel one that you also sell?

A: The midplate included in the Timing Cover Kit is made of the same high-strength 304 Stainless Steel as the one sold separately.

Q: Who makes the oil pump gears? Also who makes the gaskets?

A: The oil pump kit is made by Melling. The gaskets are an in-house brand that we've been using for almost 20 years.
