Questions and Answers
What's that you say? You want Overdrive in your FSJ? Until now, that was a pipe-dream. But dream NO MORE! We now carry AMC Engine to GM Transmission adapters for FSJ's! Can you say 700-R4? I thought you could......can you also say TH350, TH400 and 4L60E? Great, now it's time to say SEND ME THAT PART! This will also work with the 4L80e (must use the torque converter with the TH350 pattern and, of course the controller). Also fits 4l65e (aftermarket stand-alone controller required for 4L65e applications).
**Note: works with AMC starters (note that some applications will use a different AMC starter, which will be noted in the instructions).
**Transmission Fitment Notes:
The electronically controlled early 4L60E and the 4L80E will require a separate, stand-alone transmission control unit
The 4L80E can be compatible with this kit, but must use a modified factory 4L80E torque converter that features the TH350 pads / bolt pattern for the provided flexplate (AMC flexplates do not have the diameter required for the large hole / pad pattern native to the factory 4L80E)
The later style 4L60E and 4L80e with the removable bellhousing / hex rear bolt pattern are not compatible for this conversion
The TH350 is the only candidate for 1972-1983 CJ5 Jeeps due to their length, and these Jeeps must not have excessive lifts
Will NOT work with 6L80e applications.
Great product
Got this 2 years ago and had a shop swap in a 700r4 with this adapter. They were happy with the quality but needed a little fab to make the bolts easier to get to for the starter. Daily drove the Jeep with this setup for 2 years and it has been great.

Q:
Do you folks know if this adapter could be used to work with AMC 360 to Dodge trans? Or can it be re-drilled to make it work? (same bell housing as the NV4500 and G56)
Asked by:
Brian
- 1/22/2017
A:
No, these are only made to fit the GM transmissions. While you could probably weld in the existing holes and redrill for a different pattern, the spacing would be off and most likely would ruin the trans (not to mention voiding the warranty on the part itself).

Q:
I have a GM TH400 fitted to a 360 which was part of a 4x4 set up its now been converted to a two wheel drive set up I've noticed that the rear g/box mounting does not fit squarely on the chassis ie there is a slight twist in the alignment when the engine is fitted in its mounts will this adapter correct this offset? Chris
Asked by:
Chris Champion
- 6/19/2017
A:
This adapter aligns the 360 to the TH400 properly. If you have twist, that could be from the motor mounts or towers not being perfectly aligned or worn out.

Q:
Hi There, Writing from Australia. Looking to dyno run freshly rebuilt AMC 360, will be using a gm turbo bolt pattern bell housing. Will this adapter be suitable? After testing will be fitting back to original TF727 in car... If this adaptor is sutiable, is this the only part I will need to mate to the gm bellhousing? Cheers!
